Top-order batter leaves Headingley despite having two years left on contract…

Top-order batter Finlay Bean has secured an early release from his Yorkshire contract to sign a three-year permanent deal with Northamptonshire. Bean, who also keeps wicket, had previously agreed to an extension through 2028 with Yorkshire but sought a move away to pursue regular first-team cricket after losing his place in the County Championship side.
Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann welcomed the acquisition, noting Bean has been a long-term target. Yorkshire general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton confirmed the club respected the academy product's ambition to play regular senior cricket, with Bean expressing enthusiasm to develop under Lehmann.
