Matt Renshaw scored 190 to set a new Test record for the most runs accumulated in partnerships with the tail in a single innings. Renshaw contributed 174 runs alongside the lower order during Australia's first innings against South Africa in Durban, breaking Virat Kohli's previous benchmark of 171 runs set against England in 2016.
Renshaw arrived with Australia struggling at 124 for 6 and guided the team to a total of 390. He added 86 runs with Pat Cummins and 134 runs with Nathan Lyon before falling to Simon Harmer. The score marked Renshaw's career-best Test innings, while South Africa finished Day 2 at 27 for 1.
