A defiant Tasmania batted out a draw to deny NSW their first victory at Cricket Central

Tasmania batted out the final day to secure a draw against New South Wales in their Sheffield Shield round-one clash at Cricket Central. Resuming at 2-203 in their second innings, Tasmania reached 5-402 before play was halted. Jake Doran scored an unbeaten 84, Brad Hope finished 53 not out, and Tim Ward contributed 83 to stave off the Blues' attack.
NSW had taken control earlier by declaring at 9-500 in response to Tasmania's first-innings 245. Oliver Davies struck the fastest double-century in Sheffield Shield history with 253 runs off 225 balls, supported by Jack Edwards' 115. However, Sean Abbott's 4-54 was not enough to force a result.
