South Australia completed an innings victory against Victoria in a rematch of last summer's Shield final

South Australia began their Sheffield Shield campaign with a commanding victory, defeating Victoria by an innings and 40 runs at Junction Oval. In a rematch of the previous summer's final, the two-time defending champions secured the win after posting an imposing 508 runs in their first innings.
Victoria, who managed 244 in their initial innings, were bowled out for 224 in their second innings despite Fergus O'Neill top-scoring with 62. Noah McFadyen, who scored 134 in South Australia's innings, claimed the final wicket, while Nathan McAndrew and Henry Thornton took three wickets each.
