Rahmat Shah made history by becoming the first Afghan player to score a century on his Test captaincy debut against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. Shah struck 105 runs off 216 balls, leading Afghanistan's batting effort after taking over the captaincy from Hashmatullah Shahidi in July. Despite his performance, Afghanistan was bowled out for 240, conceding a 106-run first-innings lead.
Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud starred with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul and becoming the first Bangladeshi fast bowler to secure a Test hat-trick. Earlier, Bangladesh posted a total of 346 runs, guided by half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shadman Islam, and Litton Das.
