Dew and a flat wicket contributed to West Indies’ record run chase in Ranchi, but Shai Hope’s century deserves all the credit it gets

West Indies pulled off a record-breaking chase against India in Ranchi during their second T20I, finishing at 252/4 in 18.3 overs. Shai Hope led the pursuit with an unbeaten 102, concluding the contest by lofting a six over extra cover with nine balls remaining. Sherfane Rutherford delivered crucial support with an explosive 84 from 34 deliveries to help overturn a target of 250.
India had previously posted 249/5 in their 20 overs, paced by Sanju Samson's 82 alongside 44 not out from Tilak Varma, while West Indies spinner Roston Chase claimed 3/24. Mayank Yadav took 3/36 early on for the hosts, but heavy dew and flat pitch conditions challenged India's bowling unit as Hope and Rutherford orchestrated West Indies' highest-ever successful T20I chase.
