The cricket legend expressed concern over the batter's performance in India's fourth T20I loss to West Indies in Hyderabad.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar criticized batter Abhishek Sharma and India's chasing approach following a 24-run defeat to West Indies in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026. Speaking on JioHotstar, Gavaskar called Sharma's knock poor and unacceptable by his standards, while urging the batting unit to display more responsibility during high-scoring chases.
West Indies posted 247 for three before restricting India to 223, leveling the series at 2-2 ahead of the decider in Bengaluru. Gavaskar noted that despite Sanju Samson's quickfire 56 off 23 balls, other batters failed to capitalize, while West Indies bowler Keemo Paul claimed five wickets to seal the victory.
