Michael Bracewell is the sixth player to have opted for a "casual contract" with New Zealand for the 2026/27 season.

All-rounder Michael Bracewell has opted for a casual contract with New Zealand Cricket for the 2026/27 season to play in Australia's Big Bash League. The 35-year-old becomes the sixth player to decline a central contract this season, following Mark Chapman, Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, and Tim Seifert. Bracewell remains available for selection for the upcoming home five-match T20I series against India starting October 22.
Northern Districts batter Nick Kelly will replace Bracewell on the central contract list, securing his first national contract eleven years after his first-class debut. New Zealand head coach Rob Walter praised 33-year-old Kelly for his batting performances against Bangladesh and the West Indies, highlighting his domestic experience and fielding ability.
