Matt Renshaw scored a career-best 190 batting at number five to lift Australia from trouble to a commanding first-innings total of 390 in the first Test against South Africa in Durban. Renshaw registered his first Test century in more than nine years after Australia had slumped to 124 for six on day one.
Renshaw combined with Nathan Lyon, who scored 27, in a crucial 134-run stand for the ninth wicket. Josh Hazlewood then took the wicket of Ryan Rickelton before bad light ended play, leaving South Africa at 27 for one at stumps on day two.
