Reports: Pragyan Ojha set to become India’s interim chief selector, taking over from Ajit Agarkar

Former left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha is set to become India's interim chief selector, according to reports citing BCCI sources. Ojha is expected to succeed Ajit Agarkar, whose tenure in the position concludes on October 4, 2026. While Agarkar's final official act was selecting the squad for a home ODI series against the West Indies, no formal public announcement had been made by the board as of September 30, 2026.

Ojha's immediate duty will involve selecting squads across multiple formats for India's tour of New Zealand running from October 22 to November 27, 2026, alongside an India A assignment. Although Parthiv Patel has been reported as a candidate under consideration for the permanent chief selector role, the BCCI has yet to finalize a full-time appointment.
