‘Success is progress’ for Sammy as West Indies impress ‘in spite of the challenges’

West Indies head coach Daren Sammy praised his team's progress ahead of their T20I series decider against India in Bengaluru. With the five-match series tied 2-2, Sammy highlighted that winning more than two games on an Indian tour marks the team's best performance in India in 20 years. He emphasized that competing closely against the defending world champions demonstrates clear growth despite off-field adversity.

The tour follows financial restructuring by Cricket West Indies, which included player pay cuts, reduced domestic contracts, and cancelled tournaments. Despite traveling across eight cities for eight white-ball games in 20 days, West Indies mounted historic chases, including tracking down 352 in an ODI and 250 in a T20I, while also successfully defending 247 in the fourth T20I.
