One driver was punished, another to be investigated.

Audi drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg both faced steward scrutiny during the race at the Sepang International Circuit. Bortoleto was assessed a 10-second time penalty after causing a collision with Williams driver Carlos Sainz, while Hulkenberg was placed under investigation for an unsafe release.
The incident involving Bortoleto occurred at Turn 3 when an inside overtake attempt spun Sainz, prompting stewards to penalize the Brazilian, who served the sanction during a pit stop. Hulkenberg was scheduled to face the stewards following the conclusion of the Grand Prix.
