Formula 1's governing body acts to clear up ambiguity surrounding wheel-to-wheel battles and corner ownership before the action begins in Mexico.

Formula 1 stewards have issued a driving standards clarification ahead of Sunday's Mexico Grand Prix to address recurrent opening-lap incidents. Applicable on Lap 1 and after any race resumption, all cars navigating Turns 1 to 3 and Turns 4 to 6 will automatically be considered both attacking and defending by default.
Under the directive, drivers who leave the track and keep position ahead of closely following cars risk penalties for gaining a lasting advantage unless they yield. This measure responds to controversial Turn 1 corner-cutting incidents in 2025 involving Charles Leclerc and George Russell.
