Two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso has revealed that he took his son, Leonard, for a go-kart lap at just two months old. Speaking on the Spanish radio sports programme El Larguero, the 45-year-old Aston Martin driver shared details of introducing his child to motorsport, explaining that he held him in his arms so the infant could feel the wind on his face.
Alonso welcomed Leonard in March 2026 with partner Melissa Jimenez. Amid a challenging 2026 campaign that leaves Aston Martin 10th in the constructors' standings, Alonso noted that fatherhood provides balance. He also expressed excitement about bringing his son to circuits worldwide next season, having extended his contract through at least the end of 2027.
