Former Formula 1 world champion Damon Hill has urged Ferrari to designate Lewis Hamilton as their primary driver for 2027. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Hill argued that team principal Fred Vasseur must prioritize Hamilton and provide him with full support to secure the drivers' championship, comparing the potential dynamic to how Ferrari previously focused entirely on Michael Schumacher.
Vasseur has maintained equal status between Hamilton and Charles Leclerc during the 2026 season. Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Hamilton holds 241 points to Leclerc's 233, though Leclerc remains tied 9-9 in race results and is under contract with Ferrari through at least 2030.
