Lewis Hamilton expressed disagreement with Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur over claims that the team's smaller turbo gives them an advantage at the Mexico City Grand Prix. While Vasseur stated the turbo would boost Ferrari once setups are refined, Hamilton argued that Mercedes and Red Bull remain faster down the straights, estimating he is losing two to three tenths of a second per lap due to a lack of straight-line power.
Hamilton experienced a frustrating Friday at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, suffering an engine issue in FP2 that forced him to stop after 28 minutes. In contrast, teammate Charles Leclerc led both practice sessions, clocking a 1:18.128 in FP1 and a 1:17.827 in FP2, while Ferrari evaluated whether Hamilton's power unit would require a replacement before qualifying.
