Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff expressed his happiness after former driver Lewis Hamilton took pole position for Ferrari at the Mexico City Grand Prix, narrowly beating Mercedes driver George Russell. Hamilton delivered the fastest qualifying lap to secure his first pole position since joining Ferrari, finishing ahead of Russell by a tiny margin.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Wolff praised Hamilton's enduring speed while acknowledging that Russell missed out by a very close distance. By securing pole position, Hamilton also became the oldest driver to start an F1 Grand Prix from the front of the grid since Mario Andretti achieved the feat in 1982.
