Singapore will impose a major temporary restriction on its airspace during this weekend’s Formula 1 Grand Prix, with drones, kites and even balloons banned across a large area surrounding the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Singapore will impose a Temporary Restricted Area on its airspace during the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend around the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) confirmed that activities such as flying drones, flying kites, and hoisting captive balloons are strictly prohibited without permits from Thursday, October 8, through Monday, October 12.
The measure is being enforced to ensure public safety and protect low-flying broadcast helicopters operating above the track. Unauthorized activities carry penalties under the Air Navigation Act, including fines of up to S$50,000, up to two years in prison, or both for first-time offenders.
