The full extent of the damage Fernando Alonso sustained to his Aston Martin F1 car in Austin has been revealed.

The full extent of damage to Fernando Alonso's Aston Martin at the United States Grand Prix has been revealed following an opening-lap clash. Alonso collided with Williams driver Alex Albon at Turn 11 in Austin, which caused significant damage to his car's bargeboard and left-hand floor edge. The two-time world champion dropped down the order and eventually finished the race in 16th place.
Alonso reported that the damage cost him at least half a second per lap and destroyed half of the floor. Aston Martin ambassador Pedro de la Rosa confirmed that the car was missing half the floor, deflectors, and bargeboard elements. Following the race, Alonso criticized the driving standards at the back of the grid, while the stewards chose not to investigate the collision.
