The USA's Tyler McCumber was penalized for a potential error early on in his third round at the PGA Tour of Australasia's WA PGA Championship

Former PGA Tour pro Tyler McCumber was penalized two strokes for a potential ball-marker violation during the third round of the WA PGA Championship. McCumber had moved his ball-marker on the second green to accommodate playing partner Todd Sinnott, but was unsure if he moved it back before playing. After video review proved inconclusive, McCumber elected to call the penalty on himself, turning in a four-over-par 76.
The penalty severely hurt McCumber's title contention after he entered the weekend tied for second place. A final-round 74 resulted in a tied-26th finish, while Justin Warren went on to win the $250,000 tournament at 11-under. The incident marked McCumber's second notable rules violation on the PGA Tour of Australasia, following a two-stroke penalty at the 2024 Victorian PGA Championship.
