Tom Kim tops the men's leaderboard after the third round at the Asian Games as he seeks a gold medal that will significantly reduce the time he is required to spend in South Korea's military.

South Korea's Tom Kim took a one-stroke lead after the third round of the Asian Games men's golf event at Kasugai Country Club in Japan. Kim shot a five-under 65 to move to 12 under par, putting him in position to win a gold medal that would significantly reduce his mandatory South Korean military service obligation to less than a month of basic training.
Able-bodied South Korean men typically must serve 18 to 21 months, but Asian Games gold medalists receive exemptions. Kim leads Taiwan's Wang Wei-hsuan and Japan's Kazuki Higa entering the final round. South Korea also holds a one-stroke lead in the team event, providing Kim and teammate SH Kim an additional opportunity to secure gold and earn exemptions.
