The Spaniard double bogeyed the 72nd hole to hand JJ Spaun the BMW PGA Championship title

Manuel Elvira described his double-bogey finish on the 72nd hole at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth as devastating after it cost him the title. An eagle on the 17th hole had put the Spaniard in position to win, but a seven on the par-5 18th dropped him into a tie for second place, handing the victory to JJ Spaun.
Despite missing out on the €1.3 million winner's prize, Elvira earned over €520,000 for his performance. The runner-up finish moved him up 50 spots to 33rd in the Race to Dubai rankings and lifted him more than 100 places in the Official World Golf Ranking.
