Rory McIlroy believes LIV Golf was "half a good idea, executed poorly" and the breakaway is no longer a threat to the traditional game as it tries to relaunch after filing for bankruptcy.

Rory McIlroy stated that LIV Golf was "half a good idea, executed poorly" and no longer poses a threat to traditional golf following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy forum ahead of the DP World India Championship, the Northern Irishman expressed that he would vote to welcome former LIV players back to the DP World Tour, arguing their return would boost business and revenues.
LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew financial support, leaving potential relaunch plans reliant on BC Partners Capital. While players like Jon Rahm have declined to continue, other DP World Tour members disagree with McIlroy, with six-time winner Joost Luiten arguing returning players should earn status through qualifying school.
