Will Zalatoris said he will undergo spiral-fusion surgery next month to correct ongoing back issues and will miss the entire 2027 season.

PGA Tour golfer Will Zalatoris announced that he will undergo spinal-fusion surgery next month in Dallas and will miss the entire 2027 PGA Tour season. Zalatoris, who has dealt with recurring back issues for four years, revealed the decision during a media day appearance for the Austin Championship, noting that three Tour physical therapists advised that the procedure was necessary.
Zalatoris plans to compete at the Austin Championship at Omni Barton Creek Resort from November 12-15 before having the operation at the end of the month. After re-injuring his back at the Valero Texas Open this past spring, he hopes to return to competitive golf in 2028.
