Super Chapter, driven by Dexter Dunn, won the $250,000 Dayton Trotting Derby in 1:50.2 on Saturday at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway. The four-year-old trotter led gate to wire to win by one and three-quarters lengths, setting a new track record and equaling the world record for four-year-old male trotters on a five-eighths-mile track.
The Marcus Melander-trained horse matched the world mark established by Emoticon Legacy, who finished second ahead of Lexus Kody. The victory pushed Super Chapter's career earnings to $2,954,066, with 21 wins from 34 starts. The Dayton Derby card also featured wins by Twin B Joe Fresh, Harrisburg Heist, and Warrawee Michelle.
