The Baltimore Orioles have placed catcher Samuel Basallo on the 7-day concussion injured list, ending his season after he was struck by a foul tip on Monday. In corresponding moves, the Orioles recalled outfielder and designated hitter Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk ahead of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Manager Craig Albernaz also announced that second baseman Jackson Holliday will undergo left wrist surgery early next week, concluding his season. Basallo finishes his campaign with 18 home runs in his first full major league season, while Holliday ends the year having played 98 games.
