Basallo sustained the injury on Monday after taking a foul tip off his mask, ending his season with 18 home runs and 54 RBIs across 112 games. Outfielder Heston Kjerstad was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to replace Basallo on the active roster.
Holliday was diagnosed with a partial tear in his triangular fibrocartilage complex following a consultation with a specialist. The 22-year-old infielder carries an estimated recovery period of approximately 10 weeks, with team manager Craig Albernaz expressing hope that he will be ready in time for spring training.
