After pitching in college for Division III Luther College and Division II Augustana University, Blum trained in Arizona while working shifts at Safeway before signing with the Red Sox in February 2026.

Blum spent the 2026 regular season working primarily as a multi-inning reliever for Single-A Salem, recording 76 strikeouts across 66 innings.
