The Story in 60 Seconds

Wick Terrell argues that the Cincinnati Reds should remain patient with middle infielder Edwin Arroyo despite his struggles in 2026. The 23-year-old switch-hitter batted just .223/.266/.264 (.529 OPS) across 160 plate appearances for the Reds. His difficult debut followed strong results at Triple-A Louisville, where he hit .301 with 15 home runs in 354 plate appearances before his call-up.

Terrell believes Arroyo will likely begin the 2027 season back in Triple-A to continue developing at the plate. With manager Terry Francona expected to stick with Matt McLain at second base and Ke'Bryan Hayes at third, Terrell cautions against writing off Arroyo too early.
