In-season trade acquisitions Jo Adell, Nathaniel Lowe, and Patrick Bailey drove the Cleveland Guardians to a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the ALCS. The trio combined to go 5-for-14 with five RBIs on Monday night, highlighting the success of the front office's midseason roster additions overseen by president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti.
Bailey sparked the offense with a game-tying 436-foot home run in the seventh inning, followed by Lowe's go-ahead two-run single in the eighth and Adell's two-run double in the ninth. The Guardians, who also received a Game 1 start from deadline addition Foster Griffin, are now three wins away from reaching the World Series.
