The Detroit Tigers lost 4-2 to the Washington Nationals in the final matchup of their series at Comerica Park on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Detroit starter Framber Valdez took the mound opposite Washington opener Richard Lovelady, but the Tigers failed to capitalize on early opportunities and missed the chance to secure a series victory.
Detroit struggled to drive in runners during the early innings despite baserunners from Hao-Yu Lee, Dillon Dingler, and Kevin McGonigle. Outfielder Ben Malgeri later provided offense with a solo home run in the sixth inning, while Brad Lord and Will Dion made relief appearances for the Nationals.
