In Part 5 of our continuing series breaking down how the Yankees should navigate the offseason position by position, we look at third base.

Joel Sherman argues that the New York Yankees face a difficult and expensive challenge to fix their third base issues this offseason. The team posted one of the worst slash lines in the majors at the position with a combined .215/.271/.358 mark, while neither Ryan McMahon nor Amed Rosario provided the necessary defensive or offensive balance.
Sherman reports that McMahon is owed $16 million for 2027, complicating potential solutions. To move on from McMahon, the writer suggests the Yankees will likely explore trading him by absorbing significant salary, taking on an unwanted contract, or packaging him alongside more valuable assets.
