“We don’t want Brad Ausmus” – Astros fans react as Yankees coach enters the conversation for Houston’s manager job

Houston Astros supporters strongly criticized the prospect of New York Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus becoming the club's next manager after reports revealed he visited team offices. The managerial position opened on October 14 when Houston opted not to renew Joe Espada's contract following a Wild Card Series sweep. Newly hired general manager Randy Flores is tasked with finding a replacement ahead of a looming December 1 collective bargaining agreement expiration.

Fans voiced frustration over Ausmus's 386-422 career managerial record across previous stints with the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels. Although Ausmus spent 10 seasons as a catcher in Houston, supporters expressed concern over his close ties to advisor Jeff Bagwell. Other managerial candidates reportedly in the mix include Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, and Morgan Ensberg.
