After the Twins eliminated his position, long-time Twins scouting executive Deron Johnson joined Derek Falvey in the Mets' front office.

The New York Mets are hiring former Minnesota Twins executive Deron Johnson as a special assignment scout, according to The Athletic's Will Sammon. Johnson spent over three decades with the Twins organization before Minnesota eliminated his senior advisor position in September. The move reunites Johnson with former Twins president Derek Falvey, who currently serves as a senior adviser for baseball operations under Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns.
Johnson originally joined the Twins organization in 1994, later serving as scouting director from 2007 through 2016. In New York, he joins a front office looking to rebound after finishing last in the National League East with a 74-88 record in 2026.
