New York Mets Cut Ties with Atlanta Braves World Series Champion

The New York Mets announced on Thursday, October 29, that they have designated outfielder Cristian Pache for assignment. Pache, a six-year Major League Baseball veteran, previously won the 2021 World Series as a member of the Atlanta Braves. In a corresponding roster transaction, the Mets claimed utility player Kyren Paris off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.

Pache joined the Mets on a minor league contract before earning a call-up following the trade deadline. He started only one game over the final two months of the season, finishing 1-for-8 at the plate. MLB Trade Rumors reporter Anthony Franco noted that the out-of-options outfielder will likely clear waivers and elect minor league free agency.
