The roster move occurred ahead of the 2026 World Series matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays. Santana had originally joined the organization on a minor-league contract signed on January 15, 2025.

Santana spent two seasons in the Dominican Summer League, batting .093 with 10 hits, 10 RBIs, and 36 walks in 58 total appearances.
