The Los Angeles Angels have long been one of the more active names on the Japanese free agent market, and a new name may've just presented himself to them.

Writer Caleb Moody argues that while NPB star Teruaki Sato is linked to the Los Angeles Angels, 18-year-old Japanese right-handed pitcher Shoki Oda could be a more tempting offseason target. Sato was granted permission by the Hanshin Tigers to seek an MLB move, but Oda recently announced he will bypass the NPB Draft to pursue a career directly in the United States via the NCAA or professional free agency.
Moody suggests that targeting Oda would significantly bolster an Angels farm system that lacks elite pitching depth. Oda features a fastball exceeding 95 mph alongside an advanced pitch arsenal, making him an appealing developmental piece for Anaheim's rebuilding rotation.
