The Los Angeles Angels announced the release of a shortstop before the World Series between the Rays and the Brewers.

The Los Angeles Angels have officially released 18-year-old shortstop Jose Santana, according to the MiLB.com transactions log. Santana originally signed a minor-league contract with the organization on January 15, 2025, and spent his entire professional tenure playing in the Dominican Summer League.
Over two seasons with the DSL Angels, Santana batted .093 with 10 hits and 36 walks across 58 appearances. The roster move comes amid major organizational turnover for the Angels, who finished last in the AL West at 62-100, are navigating an ownership sale, and need a new manager and head of baseball operations.
