MILWAUKEE -- In an alternate timeline, one of the most highly anticipated pitching matchups isn’t opening the 2026 National League Championship Series.

Tarik Skubal will start for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the 2026 National League Championship Series at American Family Field. The Dodgers acquired Skubal from the Detroit Tigers at the Trade Deadline for three prospects, outbidding suitors including the Brewers. The left-hander will oppose Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski in the series opener.
Milwaukee missed out on Skubal after suffering season-ending rotation injuries to Brandon Woodruff and Quinn Priester, instead acquiring Dustin May, Antonio Senzatela, and JoJo Romero. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted the seven-game series would look significantly different had Skubal landed in Milwaukee.
