Agustin Ramirez’s splits suggest a possible role against lefties. The Marlins must weigh that opening against his power and roster limitations.

Writer Alvin Garcia suggests that Miami Marlins catcher Agustín Ramírez could carve out a valuable role as a platoon option against left-handed pitching. With Joe Mack's emergence altering the catching depth chart and a crowded lineup limiting full-time opportunities, Garcia argues that Ramírez's offensive splits offer a potential path forward for him to remain an asset on the major league roster.
Ramírez posted a .256/.383/.372 slash line against left-handers in 94 plate appearances during the 2026 season, compared to a .223/.280/.345 line against right-handers. Across 72 games, he produced an overall .235 batting average with five home runs. Currently assigned to Gigantes del Cibao for winter ball, Ramírez has an opportunity to refine his approach before spring training.
