The Miami Marlins announced Dillon Lawson as their new Major League hitting coach on Monday afternoon. Lawson, 41, replaces Pedro Guerrero, who departed the club after two seasons in the role. In his new position, Lawson will collaborate with assistant hitting coaches Chris Hess and Corbin Day under director of hitting Joe Migliaccio.
Lawson previously joined the Marlins organization on July 1 as a roving hitting coach. He brings extensive coaching experience, having previously worked with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros. He inherits a young Miami offense that ranked seventh in MLB batting average and tied for fifth in on-base percentage.
