Marlins To Name Dillon Lawson Hitting Coach

The Miami Marlins are set to name Dillon Lawson as their next hitting coach, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Lawson previously served as a roving hitting coach in the organization after being dismissed by the Red Sox in April. He will replace Pedro Guerrero, as president of baseball operations Peter Bendix sought a new voice aligned with the coaching staff.

The Marlins offense produced middle-of-the-pack numbers this season, posting a collective .249/.326/.400 slash line while ranking 18th in runs scored. The 41-year-old Lawson brings extensive coaching experience, having previously worked as the major league hitting coach for the New York Yankees, an assistant hitting coach with Boston, and within the Houston Astros system.
