The Brewers entered the 2026 season with a relatively low payroll and slim World Series odds. Now, they're four wins away from claiming their first World Series title.
The Milwaukee Brewers have reached their second World Series in franchise history after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers. Writer Vanessa Serrao highlights three standout players who have driven the low-payroll team's unexpected 2026 postseason surge: Jackson Chourio, Jake Bauers, and Brice Turang. Milwaukee entered the season with just a 2.1 percent chance of winning the championship before defying expectations alongside their upcoming opponents, the Tampa Bay Rays.
Chourio delivered key postseason moments, including a walk-off single against the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. Bauers earned NLCS MVP honors after posting a .441 on-base percentage and driving in six runs across eight playoff games. Turang contributed career highs during the regular season with over 20 home runs, 156 hits, and 100 RBIs, while continuing to play crucial small ball throughout the playoffs.
