The Athletics wanted to interview former Twins president Derek Falvey for their GM job, but he turned it down.

Former Minnesota Twins president Derek Falvey reportedly declined an interview for the Athletics' vacant general manager position before taking a front-office role with the New York Mets. Instead of pursuing the Athletics' opening, Falvey joined the Mets as a senior advisor to baseball operations under president David Stearns.
The Athletics have been searching for a new general manager since dismissing David Frost in August. Puckett's Pond highlights that while Falvey would have held a higher-ranking title with the Athletics, the Mets offer far greater financial resources under owner Steve Cohen.
