Knowing Young is OK, McLean is able to move on from ‘traumatizing’ collision

Nolan McLean spoke publicly on Wednesday for the first time since his on-field collision with teammate Jared Young at Citi Field. The incident knocked Young unconscious and resulted in a concussion that ended his season. McLean described the experience as traumatizing, but said his anxiety eased after learning that Young had been discharged from the hospital without brain bleeding or major complications.

McLean returned to the mound on Wednesday to deliver seven strong innings in a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park. The right-hander allowed two runs to finish his final start of the year, improving his season record to 12-10 with a 3.16 ERA.
