The New York Mets are designating right-handed pitcher Xzavion Curry for assignment, according to the team's official transaction log on MLB.com. The move is expected to serve as the corresponding transaction for claiming left-handed reliever Philip Abner off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.
Curry, 28, posted a 5.48 ERA over 21 1/3 innings across nine appearances with the Mets this season. Having been outrighted previously in his career, he will hold the right to reject an outright minor league assignment if he clears waivers.
