The Story in 60 Seconds

Writer Ben Stinar argues that the New York Yankees' roster decisions regarding outfielder Jasson Domínguez suggest Alex Rodriguez's prediction of future stardom for the player may be wrong. After optioning Domínguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in September, the Yankees subsequently left him off the postseason roster for both the Wild Card Series and the ALDS.

Domínguez finished the regular season batting .225 with six home runs across 57 games, bringing his career average to .241 over parts of four seasons. Meanwhile, the Yankees swept the Red Sox in the Wild Card Series before falling 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the ALDS.
