Pirates’ Jones, Montgomery Receive NL Monthly Honors for September

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jared Jones and left-handed reliever Mason Montgomery have been awarded National League monthly honors for September. Jones was named NL Pitcher of the Month, while Montgomery earned NL Reliever of the Month recognition for their performances during the final month of the regular season.

Jones went 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA and 40 strikeouts over five September starts, completing his season after returning from elbow surgery in May. Montgomery posted an MLB-leading 11 saves in 13 September appearances with a 2.08 ERA, capping a full season in which he registered 18 total saves.
