Pirates Secure 1st Winning Season in 8 Years in Season Finale vs. Tigers

The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Detroit Tigers 4-2 on Sunday at Comerica Park in their 2026 season finale. The victory secured the franchise's first winning season since 2018, finishing with an 82-80 record. Konnor Griffin led off the game with a home run off River Ryan and later drove in another run to pace Pittsburgh's offense.

Manager Don Kelly became only the second Pirates manager since 1992 to record a winning season. Pitcher Lake Bachar earned his first win, Mason Montgomery earned his 18th save, and starter Jared Jones struck out five batters over four scoreless innings. Kevin McGonigle and Eduardo Valencia hit solo home runs for Detroit.
