Future Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols is expected to interview for the Houston Astros' managerial vacancy this week, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
Future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols will interview for the Houston Astros' managerial vacancy on Thursday, sources confirmed to ESPN. The move comes five days after Houston hired former St. Louis Cardinals executive Randy Flores as general manager. Flores previously played alongside Pujols for five seasons in St. Louis, winning a championship together in 2006.
Pujols previously managed Leones del Escogido to a Dominican winter league title in 2025 and led the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic. New York Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus is also under consideration. Pujols remains under a personal-services contract with the Los Angeles Angels, but a buyout could be negotiated.
